Job Summary for General Storekeeper
The General Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, storing and issuing materials, tools, equipment and other items from the stockroom or warehouse. The role ensures proper inventory management, maintains accurate stock records and ensures the store area is clean and organized.
Responsibilities for General Storekeeper
- Receive incoming materials and verify against purchase orders or delivery notes.
- Inspect goods for damage and ensure quality and quantity standards are met.
- Properly label and store inventory in designated locations.
- Maintain updated inventory records using stock management systems or logs.
- Issue materials and supplies based on approved requisitions.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with system data.
- Keep the store area neat, clean and organized.
- Report any stock discrepancies, shortages or damages to the supervisor.
- Assist in maintaining records of returns, rejections and disposal of obsolete items.
- Collaborate with procurement, production and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements for General Storekeeper
- High school diploma or equivalent (Additional certification in store-keeping or inventory management is a plus).
- Proven experience as a storekeeper or in a similar warehousing role.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with inventory management software is an advantage.
