Dubai Metro – Easiest Way to Travel in Dubai

Dubai Metro train is a driverless train. It was constructed in a span of four years. It was finished and opened in 2009

The government’s plan was to develop a network of public transportation that would encourage the people to give up their cars.

Dubai Metro is a vital part of the plan. It continues to be a leader in public transportation.

There are many trains that run regularly, and you will never have to wait for one. They usually come every 3 or 5 minutes. They consist of different carriages. At one end, you will find the gold-class carriage with its nicer seats, but usually less people. At the other end there are carriages for children and women.

Metro lines run from the north to south of the Emirate. They mostly pass through central areas. Each metro station has buses, taxis (and scooters in some cases) that will take you to your final destination. You can also use the tram to travel around Dubai Marina or JBR.

The names are not always accurate as the companies sponsoring the station may have an office nearby. This can make it very difficult to determine where you are going!

At present, there are only two lines, the red and green lines. The new blue route is currently being planned and, hopefully, will be completed in 2029.

The red line has been extended recently to Expo 2020. This project was huge and brought millions of visitors to the Expo site, and areas around it.

Dubai Metro Tickets

Dubai Metro Tickets must be bought using the Nol card. Metro payments can only be made with a Nol Card. Nol cards are similar to credit cards that hold a certain season ticket or balance for travel on many public transport systems in Dubai, such as the Metro, buses, and trams.

Nol cards are available in various types. Please check the Nol section for more information on which card would be best for you. If you need a ticket for Dubai Metro you can get Nol cards from any metro station. Nol Cards can be purchased at all other public transport stations, including customer service centers.

Metro Map allows you to calculate how many zones it will take you to travel. Prices are based upon the number zones and not on the actual number.

Standard tickets, which are purchased using a red nol card, are usually charged to tourists. Prepaid refers to a Silver Nol Card, Blue Nol Card or Gold Nol Cards.

Students, disabled and older people are eligible for concessionary Nol cards upon registration and request. Standard Blue Nol card benefits include the purchase of season tickets.

Dubai Metro One-day ticket

You can buy the one-day ticket on a red Nol card. You can purchase the weekly Nol ticket using a Blue Nol card, Silver Nol card or Gold Nol Card.

You can add up to five tickets to the Red ticket. Each ticket must be bought on the day it is used, and not in advance.

You can only get a season ticket if you’re a tourist visiting Dubai.
